To become regarded as one of the best classical composers of the 20th century was no small feat for Russian-born Sergei Prokoiev. Growing up in an isolated estate, young Prokofiev was taught how to play the piano at an early age, quickly displaying his uncanny musical talent. As a young man, Prokofiev studied under Russian piano masters, and he soon made a name for himself as a prominent young conductor. After getting a bad case of wanderlust, Prokofiev traveled to the United States where he toured the country, absorbing many different regional musical styles and writing compositions. His pieces received so much attention that when he returned home, he was considered somewhat of a national hero. His piano compositions have gone on to be regarded as some of the most intellectual pieces ever written by a human being in the 20th century.
