One of the original founders of The Wailers, Peter Tosh is an undisputed legend of the reggae genre. The Jamaican-born singer amassed quite the resume during his nearly 25 year run, performing with the aforementioned Wailers, landing a collaborative hit single with Mick Jagger and enjoying an extremely successful solo career. Albums such as 1976's pro-marijuana Legalize It gave listeners a taste of the reggae purist's ability to combine roots and rocksteady forms of the genre with lyrics that touched on timely social arguments. Tosh's eccentricities only added to his mass appeal, as he would often arrive on stage at his concerts while riding a unicycle, a hobby he took very seriously. He died in 1987 after a return home to Jamaica, when he was shot and killed by a gang aiming to rob him.
