Benjamin Britten was an influential figure in the tradition of English music. The British composer also conducted and played the piano and violin, beginning his musical career in the 1930s. His rich career is marked by Britten's artistic hunger to push the boundaries of British music at the time. His textured sense of musicality was reflected through his orchestral compositions, hymnals and operatic works. Britten has proven himself to be an iconic and indispensable figure in the tapestry of Western music, both mingling with the great artistic minds of his time and carrying on his influence on generations of those to come.
