Underdog is a punk band that traces its origins to the now-iconic venue CBGB in 1985. Comprised of individuals with strong ties to the New York punk scene in the mid-1980s, Underdog became a mainstay of the city's thriving music scene in short time. The group released its first demo, Over the Edge, in 1988 and set out on a successful nationwide tour in 1989. Although, after the tour was complete, the band took a short break and the short break turned into a very long break, eventually deciding on a indefinite hiatus. Sixteen years later the band returned with its original lineup intact to release its 2010 album, Matchless, an LP that received favorable praise from longtime fans as well as critics.
