Johnathan Wilson is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from Forest City, NC who got his start as the co-founder of that band Mascadine. Before he released any solo material, Wilson opened his recording studio Five Star Studio in Los Angeles in 2009. The studio, which was relocated from Laurel Canyon to Echo Park, is known for its authentic sound quality and analog equipment. Wilson recorded a full-length album in 2007 titled Frankie Ray, but the album was never released and his debut solo album was postponed until 2011, when he released Gentle Spirit. In support of the album, Wilson joined Wilco on tour in the fall of 2011 in addition to performing at several venues around Spain and at the Shoreline Amphitheater for the Musicians United for Safe Energy. As a producer, Wilson has worked with artists such as J. Tillman of Fleet Foxes, Dawes and Chris Robinson.
