Quasi is an indie rock band that emerged out of Portland, Oregon, in 1993 when Sam Coomes and Janet Weiss began writing music together. The duo self-released an eponymous cassette before dropping a series of acclaimed studio albums starting with the release of the LP Early Recordings in 1996. By the end of the decade, the band had earned an international audience with extensive tours throughout Japan, Australia and several European nations. While both members continue working on other projects, Quasi has maintained a steady touring scheduled and continues to offer new albums full of its accessible pop rock sound, including 2010's American Gong.
