Christopher Willits has always been an artist. From a young age he'd feel pulled towards artistic expression, eventually studying visual arts at the Kansas City Art Institute--where he'd train in painting, sculpture, photography and film/video/new media. However, after deciding to pursue a musical path, Willits would move to the San Francisco Bay Area and enroll at Mills College, ultimately completing a masters degree in electronic music, learning generative music synthesis and avant-garde composition. Since graduating, Willits has led a prolific career as an experimental electronic artist who blends physical instrumentation, typically with a guitar, with computer generated sounds to create richly diverse sonic landscapes that oftentimes blend ambient noises with dense melodic arrangements. Though Willits has predominantly self-released his material, the seminal electronic label Ghostly International has also distributed some of his work, probably most notably with his 2006 album, Surf Boundaries.
