With his involvement in groups such as Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Frog Eyes and Swan Lake, Spencer Krug is quickly becoming one of the more prolific names in indie rock. As Moonface, he's now adopted yet another moniker, this time serving as a solo outlet. Fans will immediately recognize the unique waver of Krug's vocals, but this is hardly the full band affair that his usual projects are. Moonface tracks are lo-fi and minimal, often built around robotic drum machine beats, organ loops and cheap keyboard lines. From this clanky backdrop, Krug nevertheless excavates a good amount of emotional weight and hooks that bury themselves in your brain, yet again proving his worth as a significant modern songwriter worthy of following from project to project.
