Y'akoto is a soul singer who was born in German and raised in Ghana. Since she was 13, she's experimented in various genres, from electronic music to rock, reggae and of course soul. She first reached a broad audience when she opened for Erykah Badu in 2011, and she promptly released her debut album, Babyblues, with Warner Music International. Y'akoto found her creative footing with her follow-up LP, Moody Blues, which offers more complex themes such as motherhood and the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean. The record boosted her onto the international stage and she went on to play various festivals around the world.
