Referred by many German hip-hop fans as the "King of German Rap," Kool Savas (aka Savas Yurderi) has been a staple of the scene since around 2000. Though he spent most of his childhood in Turkey, he moved back to Germany as a teenager. His fearless, sometimes controversial lyrics made him a polarizing figure early on, but won him enough fans to allow him to devote himself to music full-time. Over the years, his beat production and composition have continued to improve, leading him to collaborations with high-profile artists such as The Ying Yang Twins.
