Atlanta-born and Chicago-raised rapper and hip hop producer Kanye West is often credited with having a golden touch. A good number of songs he has spent time on, whether it be lending vocals or helping out with production, have gone on to be hits. Setting himself apart from the standard commercial rapper with his penchant for fashion and lack of self-censorship when it comes to speaking out against political issues like homophobia and right-leaning political ideologies, West remains one of the most successful and controversial hip-hop artists of his generation. Though a good amount of his songs have relied heavily on autotune and sampling preexisting work, West is generally respected for his knack for production and his flamboyant ego is often deemed as justifiable given his prodigious talent.
