After a childhood spent listening to and playing with his older brother's hip-hop cassettes and turntables, Julio Bashmore heard Daft Punk's "Da Funk" and instantly fell in love with house music. He began to fool around with a guitar and synthesizers before he had the realization that DJing was his true vehicle for creating music. With his heavy bass tunes and production skills, Bashmore attracted Claude VanStrokes' label and he released his debut self-titled EP in 2009. The record was met with industry acclaim and inspired him to forego university and stay in Bristol to focus on DJing and producing. Bashmore has since toured Europe several times, making appearances at festivals including Bestival and Pitchfork Festival.
