Born Rupert Parkes in St. Albans, England Photek is an electronic music producer who rose to fame in the early 1990s as part of the UK's jungle scene. A pioneer of the drum and bass genre, he operates under several different monikers including Aquarius, The Sentinel, Code of Practice and Phaze 1, and collaborates on various projects with different artists including Goldie, under the name Baby Boys, and Lexis as Origination. With heavy jazz and classic techno influences, Photek released his debut album Modus Operandi, in 1997. After relocating to Los Angeles, he began producing music for films, such as 2003's The Animatrix and The Italian Job, and started his own production company known as Photek Productions. Photek dropped his fifth studio album and first Photek Production release, KU PALM, in 2012.
