Firewater is an alternative rock band from New York City that was formed in 1996 by former Cop Shoot Cop front man Tod A. With a sound that touches on punk rock, world music, cabaret, ska, jazz, folk, klezmer and gypsy music, the band owns a brand of music it describes as world punk. As the only consistent member, Tod A. serves as the primary singer/songwriter, guitarist and bassist of Firewater while his supporting cast is a constantly evolving entity that has included notable artists such as Duane Denison, Yuval Gabay and Jennifer Charles. The band released its debut album, Get off the Cross, We Need the Wood for the Fire, in 1996 followed by four more studio efforts before Tod A. embarked on a three-year sabbatical. While traveling through India, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey and Indonesia he wrote and recorded Firewater's sixth studio album, The Golden Hour, with a collection of local musicians as well as a few friends. The album, his first effort with Bloodshot Records, was released in 2008 to critical acclaim.
