Nell (넬) is an alternative/indie rock band from Seoul that has been considered a leader on the emergent indie "K-rock" scene since its formation in 1999. Originally well-known as one of the best live bands performing in Seoul's hip Hongdae district in the late 1990s, Nell was eventually picked up by Korean pop superstar Seo Tai-ji, effectively becoming the first band to join his independent record label in 2002. The band is heavily influenced by internationally famous alternative rock acts, particularly British rock bands of the 1990s, however, Nell manages to infuse its style with a uniquely Korean vibe that keeps its music fresh and representative of the culture.
