Based out of the United Kingdom, BEAK> is an indie rock band, heavily influenced by electronic styles and comprised of three musicians, including one of the founding members of Portishead, Geoff Barrow. The trio released its debut album in 2009 and the LP was recorded over a 12-day stretch without the use of any sort of high-tech recording devices or overdub machines. The adherence to vintage studio functionality is blatant on the band's eponymously titled debut and although there are clearly defects in many of the songs, these fallacies help add depth to the tracks and provide a defined humanistic quality that is oftentimes difficult to find in much of modern music.
