When First Rate People first hit the music scene in 2010 with its EP It's Never Not Happening, the band was a fresh and innocent addition to growing population of hip indie rockers. John Lawless and Liam Sanagan formed First Rate People out of a folk-rock bedroom project that covered R.E.M. at local farmers markets and town fairs in their hometown of Owen Sound, Ontario. After relocating to Toronto, the band picked up a soul-pop sound by fusing in indie and R&B sensibilities, resulting in its more mature 2011 EP Someone Else Can Make A Work Of Art, which features original and remixed tracks.
