One-man blues acts don't get much more unique or interesting than Reverend Deadeye. Armed with an arsenal of ramshackle instruments, foot-stomp tambourines, bass drums, a beer can microphone and a guitar modified with the lid from a wok, just watching his performance is an experience. So it's even more rewarding to discover that Revered Deadeye so brilliantly frames traditional Delta blues in a fascinatingly gritty way that manages to never lose respect or admiration for its source influences. This is a blues revival for fans of artists such as Captain Beefheart, who aimed to put their own unique stamp on the genre.
