Traditional Spanish singer María Dolores Pradera began her career as an actress in the 1940s and was in the popular films A mi la Legion!, La Lola se va a los Puertos and Agustina de Aragon. In the 1950s she began singing professionally. Her clear, low vocals and crisp language were immediately popular. For 30 years she performed with the twin brothers Santiago and Julian Lopez Hernandez. Her career, spanning over 60 years, includes 30 albums that went gold as well as accolades from across Spain, where she could not perform for years because of the censorship of the Franco regime. Her music is also widely known and appreciated across Latin America.
