The London-based outfit Hot Chip emerged in 2000 with a finely tuned, infectious synthpop sound. After signing with the English label Moshi Moshi, the band released its debut album, Coming on Strong, in 2004, but truly started to gather popular momentum in 2006 with its sophomore effort, Warning. The album earned critical acclaim in the UK and spawned several hits including "Over and Over" and "Boy From School." Hot Chip has continued to release music in the same stylistic fashion, offering disco-tinged music peppered with guitars, piano and heavy percussion. Though the band is known for its well produced studio compositions, Hot Chip knows how to transition from studio refinement to a live stage with improvised, heavy, beat-driven shows.
