Archie Powell & The Exports is an American pop rock band from Chicago. Though the group is young, it takes inspiration from some of the more tried-and-true artists of the last several decades, including Elvis Costello and Tom Petty. This classicist attitude can be heard in the band's cheerfully straight-forward and direct songwriting, as Powell pens songs that shy away from any pretension or forced genre posing. The four-piece utilizes distorted bar chords, Chuck Berry-style guitar solos and catchy vocal hooks in its sunny power pop, and has started to carve out a niche for itself within the flourishing Chicago music scene.
