Derrick Carter

Derrick Carter is an electronic musician, producer and DJ from Chicago who is considered one of the most popular underground house producers on the American scene today. As a teenager in the late 1980s, Carter made the decision to enter the then burgeoning Chicago house scene, and from there he was not only to participate in helping to grow the genre, but also to absorb other "old school" styles of music still prominent in Chicago at the time such as jazz, soul and disco. Since then, Derrick Carter has become a legend of sorts on the American and European house scene, with many of today's producers and DJs owing much to the famous Chicagoan for his contributions to house and electronic music as a whole.
