In this stirring, evocative and wonderfully relevant work by Amanda Dalton, the subject of war is brought into focus with tenderness and vulnerability in this family-oriented reflection on children and combat. The play features young characters in different proximity and relationships to battle, as one girl waits for her brother to return from battle, another plays with toy soldier, and one child speaks of her turn in combat. Dalton approaches the subject with both candor and sensitivity, in this bold theatrical work suitable for ages 9 and up. A stimulating and beautiful piece, this one won't soon be forgotten, creating dialogue around a subject mostly witnessed through the cold lens of news cameras.
