Sometimes producers get sick of producing music. It's undoubtedly frustrating tinkering with knobs all day, arguing with bands and trying to hone a sound to another's standard of perfection. This is probably why English grime producer James Smith decided to ditch the sound booth and form his own band. He, and a few other musical cohorts, formed the alternative rock band Hadouken! (named after the a special attack move from the Street Fighter video game series) to pursue a sound rooted in rock but also steeped in the popular British sub-genre grime. The group released its debut LP Music for an Accelerated Culture in 2008 and has since gained a reputation as a band that's unafraid to perform at maximum capacity during live shows.
