New York City-based act Cro-Mags is a hardcore punk band that has developed a cult following since its formation in 1982. One of the first bands to fuse thrash metal with hardcore punk for a sound now described as crossover thrash, the band developed an early reputation as one of the tougher hardcore bands on the scene after releasing its debut album The Age of Quarrel, in 1986. For its follow-up record, 1989's Best Wishes, the band highlighted its heavy metal influences, causing many of its fans to reject the album. After one more heavy metal-leaning album and a temporary breakup, Cro-Mags returned to its hardcore roots with Revenge, in 2000. Despite its well received record, the band broke up once again only to reunite for a number of sporadic shows starting with 2008's Fun Fun Fun Fest.
