Soweto Kinch is a jazz saxophonist and rapper from London who began his classical music training in primary school. During his teenage years, he discovered his affinity for jazz and tried his hand at piano before focusing in on alto saxophone. After he earned a degree from the University of Oxford in 1999, he turned his attention to jazz education and earned a spot in Gary Crosby's developmental program, Tomorrow's Warriors. Kinch made his recording debut with Crosby's Jazz Jamaica All Stars on the 2001 album, MASSIVE, which featured his first arrangement of the jazz standard "Vitamin A." He dropped his first album as leader, titled Conversations with the Unseen, in 2003, and has continued to serve as pioneer of modern jazz.
