“Arrête de Pleurer, Pénélope!” (“Stop crying, Pénélope!”) is a French play written by Christine Angilo, Juliette Arnaud, and Corinne Puget. The story is about a group of three girlfriends who have come together for the funeral of the daughter of a mutual friend. The play addresses each character’s issues with wealth, how to deal with the haughtiness of the artistic world, fashion, and relationships with men. There is a second installment of the play, that may or may not be performed with the first, and it brings the trio together again, five years later, to tackle the tension between getting older and the changes that come with it.
