Formed in 1990, Unwritten Law has flown on the cusp of the trending pop punk and alternative rock scenes over the years, managing to escape relatively unscathed on the other end. The group established itself in San Diego amongst a number of bands that would go on to varying degrees of success, including Rocket From the Crypt and Blink-182. Despite taking advantage of the rapid tempos and distortion heavy sounds of punk rock, Unwritten Law often found itself connecting to audiences with its poppier, more melodic offerings. As a result, the band would go on to pen a number of tracks that found regular playing time on alternative rock radio stations and MTV. Despite a number of lineup and stylistic changes throughout the course of its over two decade career, Unwritten Law released its sixth full-length studio album, entitled Swan, in 2011.
