A Southern California native, Gary Allan should logically not be a Nashville country star, but growing up with a father who played honky tonk at various bars, eventually incorporating his son into his live acts, it was only natural that Allen would find his niche in the country music world. Before finding fame and while playing small venues, Gary Allan took a job selling used cars. With aspirations of making it big, Allan did everything to spread his name. At one point Allen put a demo tape of his into a used car that he sold to a wealthy couple. The two were so impressed with the demo, they gave him $12,000 to travel to Nashville to properly record his songs. Allan did just that, and before he knew it he had a professional recording contract with a major label.
