Conceived in 1980 The Fixx is a new wave band from London that emerged out of the original new wave movement in the UK. Lead vocalist Cy Curnin teamed up with drummer Adam Woods to fill the missing pieces in their and called The Portraits, a name that would eventually change to The Fix and finally The Fixx. While the band's 1982 debut album, Shuttered Room wasn't an immediate success, the band's follow-up Reach the Beach, released in 1983, captured a US audience. The Fixx's fame rose in the US while it remained relatively unknown in its native country, largely due to the rise of MTV in the early 1980s. Over two decades after releasing its debut, the band is still releasing new music in the same introspective tone.
