Saves the day is a rock band from New Jersey that rode the mainstream wave of emo music in the 2000s after forming in 1994. The band released its debut album Can't Slow Down in 1994, and released one more album of power chord-based rock before receiving commercial success with its third album Stay What You Are, in 2001. The album leaned toward pop punk and earned the band airtime on MTV and appearances on late night television. The band signed with the major label Dreamworks Records to release In Reverie, in 2003. To the dismay of Dreamworks, the record featured positive themes over a more experimental sound that the band's previous work, and consequently received little promotion or support from the label. The band was eventually dropped but continued to release albums throughout the 2000s and into the 2010s.
