Plants and Animals is an indie rock band from Montreal that describes its music as post-classic rock. Formed in the early 2000s, the three-piece band released its a self-titled EP in 2004 with Ships at Night Records. Drummer Matthew Woodley and guitarists Warren Spicer and Nic Basque all contribute vocals to powerful effects, particularly on the band's 2008 debut album Parc Avenue, which featured a strings sections put together by Sarah Neufeld of Arcade Fire. The album was critically acclaimed, capturing attention from acts like Wolf Parade and The National, who Plants and Animals would go on to open for later that year. The band's third album The End of That, released in 2012, has been praised for its new confidence and excitement.
