Micky Dolenz is a musician and actor from Los Angeles who is best known as the lead singer and drummer of The Monkees. After spending his childhood in a series called Circus Boy and his adolescence playing guitar and singing in a string of rock and roll bands, Dolenz was cast in a television sitcom called The Monkees. Though the show initially began in 1965 as a program about a made-up band who wanted to be the next Beatles, the four lead actors/musicians soon became a proper band. By 1966 The Monkees embarked on tits first tour, and Dolenz continued to work with the band in various ways for the next decade. Once the show stopped airing and the band broke up in the late 1970s, he embarked on his own solo career and moved on to other television projects but has also joined his former band mates on several reunion tours.
