Michael Burton, a saxophonist hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, embarked on his musical journey early in life, guided by a rich heritage deeply rooted in soulful sounds. Influenced by his mother, an original member of the iconic Mississippi Mass Choir, Burton's musical upbringing was steeped in gospel traditions. He further honed his craft through formal education, earning both bachelor's and master's degrees in Jazz Studies under the tutelage of the esteemed musician and professor, David Baker, at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
