Maria Taylor got her start in the music business at the ripe age of 15 when she joined the Alabama-based band Little Red Rocket. The group was signed by Geffen and released two albums, but after the merging of Geffen and Universal Music Group, it disbanded. Not one to dwell in the doldrums of life, Taylor and a friend/writing partner moved to Athens, Georgia and formed a dream pop group called Azure Ray. The band achieved a good amount of success with its characteristic sound and released three albums before both members decided go their separate ways. Though Azure Ray has played together and put out material since its so called resolution, Taylor has managed to build a fairly successful solo career that centers around musician's love of folk and astute instrumental accompaniments.
