Born and Raised in St. Charles, MO Dave Weckl is a jazz fusion drummer who is renowned in the jazz world for his work as both a band leader and collaborator. Soon after graduating from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut with a jazz studies degree, he moved to New York and immersed himself in the fusion scene of the early 1980s. He began working with prominent artists such as George Benson, Robert Plant, Paul Simon and most prominently, the Chick Corea Elektric Band, whom he worked with for a duration of seven years. He finally released his first album as band leader, titled Master Plan, in 1990, and went on to release three more records before putting together his own official band, the Dave Weckl Band. The group released its first offering Rhythm of the Soul, in 1998, and continues to realize Weckl's jazz fusion compositions.
