Cibo Matto is an indie pop band from New York City that was founded by Japanese front women Miho Hatori and Yuka Honda. With a sound that incorporates elements of bosa nova, trip-hop, ambient music and a Japanese brand of pop known as Shibuya-kei, Hatori and Honda released their debut album Viva! La Woman, in 1996 as a duo before adding three more members. As a five-piece outfit, Cibo Matto released its sophomore full-length effort Stereo* Type A, in 1999. The band broke up in 2001 and reunited a decade later in 2011 to record and release its third studio album in 2013.
