Götterdämmerung is the last opera in a four-opera series by Richard Wagner. The series itself is entitled The Ring of the Nibelung or simply The Ring. The opera is loosely based on an old Norse legend that describes a war of the gods that brings the end of the world. Considered one of Wagner's greatest works, The Ring demonstrates the colossal fury and passion that enraptures opera audiences worldwide.
