Bob Newhart is a stand-up comedian and actor who rose to fame in the 1960s for his best-selling comedy album The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart. After making a smooth transition into acting, he would go on to be remembered for two starring and long-standing roles: Dr. Robert Hartley on the 1970s sitcom The Bob Newhart Show, and Dick Loudon from the 1980s sitcom Newhart. Though Newhart's widespread appeal faded over the next few decades, he will go down as a comedic legend for his distinctive deadpan delivery.
