Benny Golson is a tenor saxophonist and bebop jazz composer and arranger. Born and raised in Philadeophia, he grew up playing with legends like John Coltrain and Red Garland. As a leader, he released his debut LP, Benny Golson's New York Scene, in 1957. He went on to play with other renowned players like Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hempton and Art Blakely and the Jazz Messengers while also fronting his own outfits, such as the Benny Golson Quartet.
