Formed by Ethan Silverman, co-founder of Terrible Records--its other half made up of Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor--Beige is a trio based out of Brooklyn. Claiming to create music in the "tone of beige," the group's sound is akin to a mellowed-out version of psych-rock, laden with reverb and downtempo electronics, almost bordering on chillwave. After forming in 2010, the group released a couple singles and found positive press from significant indie music blogs by early 2011. While the group seems content to release a string of singles and play the occasional live show, with no sign of a full-length album in sight, as it receives more positive press, Beige may become a full-fledged touring act.
