Written by brother Robert and Willie Reale, A Year With Frog & Toad is a musical based on the children's story series Frog and Toad, written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel. Lobel's daughter Adrianne authorized the musical based on the stories, and the five-character musical that debuted in 2002 is true to her father's original and classic characters. The story follows two friends, a spritely frog and a grumpy toad, as they make their way through spring, summer, fall and winter. Each season presents the amphibian friends with new adventures, challenges and life lessons about perseverance and friendship. A Year With Frog & Toad debuted on Broadway in 2003, and the production was nominated for three Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score.
