Chicago-based rock band Empires rose to fame with its indie rock tendencies and by utilizing the vast audiences available online. The band released its self0producted debut album Howl, on its website in 2008 and attracted over 70 thousand downloads worldwide. The band's indie/alternative sound recalls the garage rock revival of the 2000s while catering to the growing indie rock scene. Empires refined its sound on its 2012 album Garage Hymns, offering the same rock and roll vibes while capturing a more focused sound.
