Chapeau Claque was a German band formed by singer and songwriter Maria Antonia Schmidt in 2006. Maria Antonia Schmidt, born in Cottbus in 1986, discovered her musical passion at the age of 15 and initially formed the band vanilla cinnamon with Juli Holz, which later evolved into Zweiekkenkreis. After catching the attention of a record label, Chapeau Claque was officially formed, with Maria Antonia Schmidt at the helm. Chapeau Claque's music encompassed a blend of styles, and their lyrics often delved into themes of human emotions and tragedy. Their debut album "Hand aufs Herz" was released in spring 2007, followed by the EP "Fabelweiss Extra Edition" in 2010, featuring acoustic versions of songs from their previous albums.
