Kaki King is a guitarist and singer/songwriter from Atlanta, GA who is known for using fret tapping and slap bass techniques as well as multiple tunings on both her acoustic and lap steel guitars. King relocated to New York City where she established her own fan base with intimate live shows. On September 11, 2001, she decided to use the New York subway as her stage in solidarity with the entire country during a time of national mourning, and this impromptu attempt to connect with the people attracted enough attention to inspire her to finally record her music. Jumping back and forth from acoustically-oriented material to more poppy, alternative songs, she released her debut album Everybody Loves You, in 2003. She has since been named one of the best modern guitarists for her signature layered and looped sound.
