Quite possibly best known for its radio hit "Take on Me" (and accompanying music video, which made people fear professional race car drivers who carry wrenches), Norwegian synthpop band A-Ha has made an impressive career of turning dreary songs into upbeat manifestos for the lonely. The group experienced its most widespread success in the 1980s and is still held onto as somewhat of a national treasure in Norway.
