Googoosh

The Iranian pop songstress Googoosh was one of the more promising music stars to emerge out of the Middle East in the 1970s. But after the 1979 Iranian revolution, female singers were forbidden to perform in public, and this put a damper on Googoosh's prominence as a leading voice of her generation. Also a political activist, she is known for voicing her disapproval for a few things that have been going on in her tumultuous home country.
