Though he initially launched his career in the mid-1970s with the highly influential and revered American new wave band Talking Heads, multi-talented singer/songwriter David Byrne has managed to stay busy and remain relevant in the modern music world. Formed in 1975, Talking Heads would go on to serve as one of the more interesting avant-pop acts of its generation--working with producer Brian Eno and establishing itself as an engaging live act that incorporated various theatrical elements on stage to provide its shows with a more engaging concert going experience. After the group broke up in 1991, Byrne has remained an ever-present beacon of forward-thinking consciousness who has no problem shifting between artistic mediums. Having written books, directed movies, founded music labels and created works of public art, all in addition to maintaining a healthy and collaboratively intense music career, Byrne has solidified his role as a post modern renaissance man of sorts.
