INXS, pronounced "In Excess", is a dance rock band that emerged out of Sydney, Australia in 1977. Initially called The Farris Brothers, the group changed its name to INXS just before releasing its eponymous debut LP in 1980. INXS hit an international mainstream stride in 1987 with the release of Kick, its sixth studio album which garnered several hit singles including "New Sensation”, "Need You Tonight" and "Never Tear Us Apart." With a impressively steady lineup, with the exception of its lead singer, INXS continues to tour and release new wave-tinged alternative dance music on records like 2010's Original Sin.
