Martin Carthy is a London-based singer/songwriter and guitarist who has maintained his status as an influential figure of folk music since he emerged in the 1960s during the early days of the folk revival. He released his self-titled debut album in 1965, paving the way for a decades-long career and kicking off an impressive discography of dozens of collaborations and solo ventures. Carthy continues to record and perform new material, including Straws in the Wind, the 2006 album he made with his long-time associate Dave Swarbick.
